Courtney Lewis, DVM

Courtney Lewis, DVM, is the founder of Chatt-Town Veterinary Care in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Her career in veterinary medicine spans more than 20 years, beginning long before she became a veterinarian. She graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 and has worked across general practice, emergency medicine, and relief practice.

Courtney spent her first five years as a veterinarian at Sierra Veterinary Care in Sonora, California, an experience she credits with shaping her views on mentorship, teamwork, and what a veterinary hospital can feel like when its people genuinely care about one another. After moving to Chattanooga in 2021, she began looking for a practice that matched how she wanted to work: open communication, high-quality medicine, partnership with pet owners, and little tolerance for ego. She couldn’t quite find it.

Instead, she built it.

Before opening Chatt-Town, Courtney worked relief throughout the Chattanooga area, giving her a firsthand look at how dozens of veterinary hospitals operated. She used that experience to identify what worked, what created unnecessary friction, and what she wanted to do differently in her own hospital.

The result is Chattanooga’s first open-concept veterinary hospital, where clients can remain connected to their pets throughout much of the care process and transparency is built directly into the physical and operating model of the practice. Courtney describes her philosophy around three ideas: respect, teamwork, and heart.
